I’m a postdoctoral researcher in Astronomy at the University of Washington. My current research centers on the baryon cycle: how gas is accreted onto galaxies, fuels their star formation, and is recycled back, and how feedback processes regulate the cycle as a whole. I’m also passionate about how massive stars evolve and die, exploring their unique evolutionary history and impacts on their surroundings. Spectroscopy is my favorite tool to find hints on these cosmic scenes.
The 12-year-old me had no idea I would become an astronomer. I went to an art school in Korea, dreaming of being a painter. The only thing I knew clearly was that I admired nature and wanted to find its beauty and show it to others. Over time, I found myself enjoying observing nature and studying the principles that make it beautiful more than expressing it on canvas, which led me to science. I still dream the same dream. I deeply admire the Universe, I try to understand it, and I hope my tiny findings can show people a pebble of our Universe.
